Steam & Sail in the Lakes

Day 1

Depart from Wales in the morning and begin travelling to the Lake District to arrive late afternoon at the Patterdale Hotel. Four nights stay - dinner, bed & breakfast.

Day 2

This morning we make our way to the Cumbrian market town of Kendal, home of the 'mint cake' and breathtaking views. Kendal offers a fine selection of shopping arcades, boasts two castles, museums and a host of historical buildings to explore at leisure. This afternoon we have free time in Windermere, a bustling tourist hotspot with independent shops, interesting museums & plenty of places to eat before returning to the hotel for the evening.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast in the morning. Today we take a scenic drive into the pretty town of Keswick on the banks of Ullswater. The capital of the North Lakes, Keswick has a range of shops, galleries, and interesting places to explore.

This afternoon, we journey back to Glenridding on the shore of Ullswater to board the lake 'steamer' for a leisurely scenic cruise on the lake to Pooley Bridge where we return to the coach and journey back to the hotel, enjoy dinner in the evening too.

Day 4

Today we ride via St John's Vale and Lake Thirlmere to the lovely village of Grasmere where we take a break. Grasmere was the home of William Wordsworth and his family along with other artists. Sample the famous gingerbread from the local shop before we head for Ambleside before we head to Lakeside for the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway for a nostalgic steam train ride to round off the day.

Return to the hotel and enjoy dinner as usual.

Day 5

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and begin your journey back home to Wales.
