Steam + Sail in Shropshire

Day 1

Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Shropshire to arrive late
afternoon at the Lions Quays Hotel. Four nights stay– dinner, bed & breakfast.
Tea/coffee on arrival to the hotel.

Day 2

This morning we make the journey into Shrewsbury - packed with timber framed black
and white buildings amongst narrow alleyways surrounded by the River Severn. Enjoy
the morning at leisure to explore. On the afternoon we board for a cruise on the River
Severn.

Day 3

After breakfast we head to Welshpool where we catch the Welshpool and Llanfair
light railway. The steam train negotiates a viaduct and river bridge, climbs the
notoriously steep Golfa Bank and steams serenely through beautiful countryside, and
you may even spot the occasional heron, goosander, woodpecker or buzzard. We have
a chance to explore Welshpool before we return the hotel.

Day 4

We are off across the Denbighshire Moors this morning to the pretty Vale of Conwy,
Llanrwst, and Betws-y-Coed. We take a break here with time for lunch before we ride
through the pretty countryside to Llangollen, in the Dee Valley. We have time to
explore before returning to the hotel across the spectacular Horseshoe Pass

Day 5

After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
