After a leisurely breakfast, we make the journey to Auckland Castle. This proud
home of the Bishops of Durham stands as one of the best-preserved Bishops’
Palaces in Europe. Over the last decade, the site has undertaken major renovation
work to bring the castle back to its former splendour. Enjoy time at leisure to
explore the festively decorated castle with staterooms designed to tell the history
and story of the Bishops that lived here. Included in our visit is entry to the Faith
Museum which opened in 2024 and looks to contemplate the ideas, implications,
and impact of faith in Britain.
Day 3
Leave the hotel after breakfast. What better way to count down to Christmas than
by visiting the winter wonderland at Beamish, the Living Museum of the North.
Experience Christmas from days gone by, stroll around Town Street, Pit Village,
Home Farm and Pockerley Old Hall. Ther are lots of opportunities to obtain a drink
and a bite to eat before returning to our hotel
Day 4
After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
