Isle of Wight - Hovercraft

Day 1

Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Portsmouth, Hayling Island
and arrive late afternoon at Langstone Hotel. 4 nights stay – dinner, bed and
breakfast. Tea/Coffee & biscuits served on arrival.

Day 2

Today we head east following the coast road to Worthing, Hove, and the famous
resort of Brighton. We spend the day here. Enjoy a seafront stroll and explore the
unique Lanes - a trendy area with cafes, bars, and shops – an ideal spot for lunch. You
may fancy a visit to the famous Royal Pavilion with its onion domes or relax and
watch the world go by. Late afternoon, we head back to the hotel

Day 3

After a leisurely breakfast, we make the short journey to Southsea for the highlight of
our trip - a Hovercraft flight across the Solent to the Isle of Wight seaside resort of
Ryde. The short crossing features the ‘Hovercraft Experience’ where you have the
chance to meet the pilot and crew who will talk you through how the craft works
before showcasing the abilities of the craft including 360 degree turns, deflating the
skirt to ‘float like a boat’ and a flight around local landmarks including forts used in
the World War. On arrival in Ryde, we will enjoy a 2-course lunch at Ryde Castle Pub.
Afterwards, the afternoon is free for you to explore the town at your leisure before our
hover crossing back to Southsea later in the day.

Day 4

We make the short journey into maritime Portsmouth. There are lots of interesting
things to see and do. Visit the Historic Dockyard, home of ‘Victory’ and ‘Mary Rose’.
Perhaps wander around the Old Town and visit the lovely Cathedral as well as Spice
Island, the former haunt of smugglers and press gangs. A visit to Gunwharf Quays is a
must, with an array of excellent shops, bars and restaurants. Here you could take a
ride up the awesome Spinnaker Tower for fabulous views along the south coast.

Day 5

After breakfast, we depart the hotel beginning the journey home with fond memories
of our time on the South Coast.
